Paperman wins the Oscar. Disney animators were honored with an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.
Paperman is a story of a boy and a girl in Manhattan. Their paths cross on the train platform on the way into the city. Silly and lovable beginning is memorable. He thinks of her and there she is across the street. But he’s in one high-rise, she is in another. How can he get her attention? What must he do to find her again?
Paperman is six and a half minutes of delightful animation. Blending hand drawings with computer animation, this black and white short film captures all that is in a romantic moment. The short played in theaters for Wreck-It-Ralph audiences around the country.
Other nominated shorts were Adam and Dog, Maggie Simpson, Head Over Heels, and Fresh Guacamole. The shorts are easy to find on YouTube and are worth the watching.
It’s been a long time since the Walt Disney Company has won this category. The last time Disney won best animated short was 1969 with ‘It’s Tough to be a Bird.’
