On Jan. 30, Disney Vacation Club introduced a new program for its members. Membership Magic offers a number of new features and experiences, vacation options, perks and discounts that those who have invested in Disney Vacation Club (DVC) may take advantage of.
“With Membership Magic, we are giving families even more to love about Disney Vacation Club,” said Ken Potrock, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Vacation Club in a media statement. “We are introducing great new perks, exclusive experiences and other service enhancements that only members and their guests can access. It’s our special way of thanking our members for being such a valued part of the Disney Vacation Club family.”
While some of the Membership Magic enhancements, DVC’s terminology, will be rolled out over the next several months, many are available now. For instance, DVC members can see some of the features in the redesigned DVCMember.com site. Its transformation is intended to make the homepage more user-friendly and interactive, information about membership and its benefits easier to access, and adds a new DVC Online Marketplace with exclusive merchandise.
Even bigger news for many DVC Members is related to savings for various Disney Parks Annual Pass options. From now until April 30, 2014, special discounted rates are available for admission options, including the Walt Disney World Premium Pass, the Disneyland Resort Deluxe Pass and the Disney Premiere Passport. As Touring Plans notes, savings on these passes can be substantial.
In March, Membership Magic will debut “enhanced collections of vacation options” thought DVC’s association with RCI, These change increases the number of vacation destinations DVC members can choose from, increasing the options from hundreds to thousands.
For DVC members who purchase their points directly from Disney (as opposed to resale), the Disney Collection will offer an expanded list of Walt Disney World Resort hotels. These are in addition to the existing popular lodging options at Disneyland Resort, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. Members will also have access to Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney vacations.
Adding to the value of such exchanges: members will find that many of the RCI and Concierge Collection resorts will require fewer vacation points and will offer greater availability.
Membership Magic also offers a variety of DVC Member vacation experiences planned and reserved for members and their guests.
Adventures by Disney: Two exclusive adventures featuring, first, New York City and, second, San Francisco and Napa; members and their guests will enjoy the opportunity to experience these ABD trips before anyone else.
Disney Cruise Line: The first summertime DVC Member Cruise is scheduled for Aug. 24-28, 2014. Guests will sail on the Disney Dream, departing from Port Canaveral, Fla., and the cruise will include special entertainment and nightly gifts.
Great Moments with Walt Disney: This year’s complimentary, DVC-created live theater experience will make five tour stops in the U.S. The event will be hosted by Disney historian and author Tim O’Day (“Disneyland Then, Now, and Forever”) and Disney Files Magazine editor Ryan March.
Culinary Magic: Dinner events will be offered at such signature Disney restaurants as Flying Fish Café at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Citricos at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, both located at Walt Disney World Resort.
Recreation Magic: Two new experiences have been developed to enjoy Walt Disney World waterways: competitive fishing tournaments at Disney’s Contemporary Resort and a Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise, with complimentary sparkling wine, chocolate-covered strawberries and a prime viewing spot.
Member Bowling Night: Splitsville Luxury Lanes, at the Downtown Disney West Side area of Walt Disney World will host weekly bowling nights for members and their guests
As part of Thursday’s announcement, Disney Vacation Club noted its members should expect additional offers from the Membership Magic program – including experiences in California, Hawaii and at sea – to be introduced over the next few months.
