At the Japanese debut of the company's D23 fan Expo Disney showed guests concept art and models of the in-progress project. The partnership with James Cameron has, according to representatives, inspired the Imagineers to take huge steps forward in the creation of Avatar's exotic world of Pandora. The film's stunning computer generated environments will be recreated, as seen in the newly released concept art, so that guests may "...wander through a nighttime jungle of bioluminescent plants that are alive with light and sound."
As far as rides and attractions go, hints indicate at least two major draws. Comments and art suggest some manner of 'flying' attraction allowing visitors to ride atop one of Pandora's giant Banshees. This could be achieved with the type of technology currently employed in Epcot's Soarin', or through something akin to Universal's acclaimed Harry Potter attraction, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
The second implied adventure looks to be a boat ride in the vein of Pirates of the Caribbean, taking visitors on a journey through the jungles of Pandora. Also announced was a brief summary of other upcoming additions to the Animal Kingdom park including a floating parade along the Discovery River, live performers on Discovery Island, and a new nighttime version of the popular Kilimanjaro Safaris.
