Disney survey shows importance of family vacations: Options at Walt Disney World

Part one of this article discussed just how crucial vacation time is for family bonding. According to a Disney Time survey, it gives an opportunity for togetherness in a little niche of time cut out of busy lives and overwhelming daily responsibilities.

Orlando was named in the survey as a top vacation destination, but how does Walt Disney World fit in as the kind of place where families can enjoy their togetherness? Here are some important ways:

Attractions for all age groups: The four Disney parks literally offer something for everyone, from young kids who love the fairy tales represented in Fantasyland and New Fantasyland to roller coasters like Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and Expedition Everest for tweens and teens to The Great Movie Ride, where parents and grandparents can share movie memories with the younger generation. This makes Walt Disney World a great destination for large families with kids scattered among several age groups and vacations than include grandparents.

The survey showed that vacations are an opportunity for kids to learn more about their parents. That works out especially well in families where the parents visited Disney World themselves as kids and can relate their own memories of the first time they saw Cinderella Castle or braved Space Mountain.

Themed lodging: If the whole family stays at a Disney hotel, they can use the convenient transportation to the parks and enjoy their resort's theme. However, they can take it a step farther and stay in a themed room, from pirates to Nemo to the Royal Rooms at Port Orleans that salute the Disney Princesses. That adds special memories not only to days spent in theme parks, but evenings spent back at the room.

Dining fun: The survey showed decisively that families eat more meals together when they're on vacation. Walt Disney World has dining options that transform a regular breakfast, lunch, or dinner into an entertainment experience. Character meals are especially popular and offer the chance for some priceless family photos.

Those are just a few of the ways you can find quality family time on a Disney vacation. As the world gets busier, with work and school responsibilities and electronic devices demanding more and more attention, vacations will likely become even more important, making trips to Florida and other destinations more critical to preserving the family bond.
