Disney has announced that it is striking down The Clone Wars TV series— offering the news, matter-of-factly, on Star Wars.com. Yes, the popular and long-running running animated series is being cancelled after five seasons of bringing fans their favorite adventures from a galaxy far, far, away. Disney also announced that it is shelving the un-aired series, Star Wars: Detours as well.
Both shows were part of Cartoon Network's line-up, but since Disney now owns the Star Wars franchise, it wants to air Star Wars related shows on their network—Makes sense. Disney also announced that they were planning to develop their own slate of Star Wars shows to air on their own networks, and said that they will provide any un-aired Clone Wars episodes and scenes as "bonus content", but did not specify in what context or medium. It's probably a good bet that they will be packaged in a Clone Wars series DVD set.
