On Monday August 19 police discovered the body of TNT and former Disney star Lee Thompson Young. The actor whom everyone said was a “Gentle soul” was found dead at his home from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police are baffled as to why this happened because a suicide was not found and Young didn’t seem to have any emotional, drug or money problems.
Young was currently playing homicide detective Barry Frost on the TNT police drama “Rizzoli & Isles” starring opposite Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander. Production of the show was halted for the week. A private service was held on August 23 at Paramount Studios where “Rizzoli & Isles” is filmed.
TNT released a statement:
Everyone at Rizzoli & Isles is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother.
Lee Thompson Young’s most notable credits include a role in the film “Friday Night Lights” and as Jett Jackson the title role on the Disney Channel show from 1998-2001. Another role in his credit was playing an FBI agent in the ABC sci-fi/drama “FlashForward” where his character committed suicide.
