On Feb. 14, as part of Walt Disney World’s weeklong celebration of Valentine’s Day, dozens of couples stood in front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom in order to publically renew their love and commitment to one another.
Joining the couples of this Magic Kingdom recommitment ceremony, hosted by “Cinderella” character Major Domo, were some of Disney’s most famous, romantic couples: Cinderella and Prince Charming, Aurora and Prince Philip and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
Thursday’s ceremony is one of the events for “True Love Week,” the Valentine’s Day themed experiences for Disney’s Limited Time Magic.
True Love Week experiences will take place at Magic Kingdom, and other Walt Disney World locations, through Feb. 17.
During this celebration of true love, the Magic Kingdom will offer photo opportunities with the Disney Princesses as they appear with their Princesses. Cinderella Castle will be alight with pink, red, lavender and blue hues, its lights synchronized to romantic music. And love is in the air and the atmosphere, with special décor (much of it heart-shaped) appearing throughput park.
During this period, Walt Disney World also offers special dining – candlelight dinners with prix fixe menus – at select Disney restaurants and limited-edition merchandise.
True Love Week, which also has its counterpart at Disneyland, is the latest in Disney’s 52 weeks of experiences billed as Limited Time Magic. These temporary, transitional surprises will shift throughout 2013.
Among the Limited Time Magic experiences Walt Disney World and Disneyland have featured so far are themed meet-and-greets, "Long Lost Friends Week" with appearances by rare Disney characters, the return of Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe Revue and limited-edition merchandise.
Some of the other experiences Disney is planning include a celebration themed to Independence Day, a Friday the 13th party with Disney Villains, and a pirate week.
