Houstonians can soon take a trip under the sea with Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) production of Disney’s family friendly extravaganza, The Little Mermaid, coming to the Hobby Center from June 13-29.

The Little Mermaid features bright inventive sets and dazzling costumes that The Fort Worth Star-Telegram praised as “a thoroughly entertaining theatrical experience, especially appreciated by kids who love the movie — and their parents and grandparents.”

Bruce Lumpkin, TUTS artistic director, said after The Little Mermaid closed on Broadway, the show underwent two years of intensive work of fine tuning the production. “The result is an outstanding show that will leave Houstonians spellbound. The grandeur of the scenery, high-flying action, and magical story will mesmerize everyone who comes to the theatre,” he said.

Based on the Disney animated film and hit Broadway musical, The Little Mermaid is making its Houston debut. Featuring all the favorite songs like “Under The Sea” and “Part of Your World” as well as new songs written by the Oscar-winning Alan Menken, the mastermind behind productions such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Pocahontas.

TUTS will offer several special events in conjunction with the show for an unforgettable musical experience including the OUT@TUTS post-show cast party on Thursday, June 19, Breakfast Under The Sea on Sunday, June 22 and Culture + Cuisine on Friday from June 13 – Sunday, June 29.
