On May 17, DisneySports Twitter announced official dates for the 2011 Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend. The event will take place Feb. 27 – 27, 2011, which is one weekend earlier than in 2010.
Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend, presented by Lady Foot Locker, is a celebration of women athletes. Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend events include Sunday’s half-marathon race; Saturday’s Royal Family 5K, a fun run/walk; kids’ races, and a “Fit for a Princess” Health and Sports Expo.
The Princess weekend attracts athletes from all 50 states and around the world. Last year’s event attracted more than 18,000 participants, with more than 14,000 runners, walkers, and wheelchair athletes signing up for the half-marathon distance.
Although the weekend is marketed and promoted to women athletes, men may also register for the half marathon and 5K races.
The Princess half-marathon race features a flat, fun course with plenty of entertainment. It travels inside Epcot and Magic Kingdom theme parks. Among the race highlights are opportunities for athletes to have their pictures taken with Disney characters and in front of iconic landmarks, including Cinderella Castle.

Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend is part of Disney’s Endurance Series. Other events include the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in January, Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend in September, and the inaugural Wine and Dine Half Marathon in October, as well as other shorter-distance races.
The 2011 dates for Disney’s Princess weekend are over the same weekend this year’s ESPN 5K race, which was held during the 2010 EPSN The Weekend. There has been no official Disney statement whether the ESPN 5K event will held in 2011, though Disney releases registration information for short race much closer the event date.
Registration for Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend will begin July 6, 2010. Interested participants – whether princesses or princes – may register for the half marathon or related race-weekend events at ESPN Wide World of Sports website.
