Reuters reports that "Oz the Great and Powerful" has earned a lot more in the box office in its second weekend, after last week’s strong debut of $42.2 million in U.S. and Canadian ticket sales. There are many institutional firms which have indicated they own shares of Disney in Q4 2012. Their investment, with a total of 1.187 billion shares on 12/31/2012, looks good.
Money News has also reported on the great initial sucsess of Disney’s new Oz movie, Disney's 'Oz' Again Tops Box Office with $42.2 Million. "Oz the Great and Powerful" has been living up to its name at the box office. This 3-D blockbuster by Walt Disney has led all films for the second week in a row. According to studio estimates on Sunday the film took in $42.2 million.
"The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" is reported to have also taken in $46.6 million overseas, leading to a two-week worldwide total of $281.8 million. This has easily made "Oz" the biggest hit of 2013 so far. Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com, has said, "Boy, did we need it. There have been a lot of box-office casualties this year. This is the shot in the arm that we needed, but we're still waiting for the marketplace to gain some sort of momentum."
