Some of Disney's most classic animated films have recently been released in theaters in 3D, but Disney's next project will be a live action version of Sleeping Beauty's evil villian. Angelina Jolie has been cast in the lead role of evil queen Maleficent in the film of the same title. The Maleficent film will be a spin-off of the Sleeping Beauty story, but from the point of view of the evil queen.
No other casting details have been released, but with Angelina Jolie on the project more news will probably be surfacing soon. The film is currently slated for a 2015 release in theaters.The project will be directed by Robert Stromberg and written by Linda Woolverton.
