Disney's Limited Time Magic brought rarely seen characters to life Jan. 21-27

In late 2012, Disney Parks announced its newest promotion for Walt Disney World and Disneyland in 2013. Each week throughout the year would feature a special theme to help park guests create an even more memorable Disney vacation. This week, Jan. 21-27, proved to do just that as Long Lost Friends Week brought back many rarely seen characters to the streets.

During this time, the Magic Kingdom welcomed back Disney characters who have not been seen on Main Street for years. Classic characters like The Three Little Pigs, Clarabelle Cow, and Horace Horsecollar made several appearances this week along with characters from the movies Robin Hood and Pinocchio. With only one day left, park guests don't have much time left to get their autographs before these beloved characters go back home.

But not to worry. Walt Disney World will feature even more Limited Time Magic moments and Disneyland will host some of its own special events. Not all the weeks will be announced ahead of time as Disney wants to surprise their guests throughout the year. However, the following weeks are already planned out.

Valentine's Week: During the week of Valentine's Day, famous Disney couples will be out and about for meet-and-greets. There will also be special menus at select restaurants for couples, limited edition merchandise, and the castle will be bathed in romantic colors.

Independence Week: During the week of the 4th of July, the Magic Kingdom will have a special fireworks show while celebrating the country in a way that only Disney can do.

Unleash the Villains Week: Set to take place the week of Sept. 13 (Friday the 13th), classic Disney villains in Disney's Hollywood Studios will come out to play and host a dance party for guests. The park will also be open until the 13th hour, or 1 a.m., that Friday.

Other themes include Pirate Week and Dapper Dans Sing Boy Bands Week, although no specific dates have been announced for these. For a list of special events going on at both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort, visit the Limited Time Magic website for details.
