Disney's Food and Wine Festival - An Overview
The fifth annual Disney California Food and Wine Festival, presented by Vanity Fair Premium Napkins and Plates, is currently underway. It is a number of events held inside the California Adventure Park and locations in the Disneyland Resort. Going on until May 31st, the events include cooking demonstrations, famous chefs, wine seminars from in-state luminaries, tasting events, art exhibits and more.
The wine seminars are held in the Festival Showplace in the Soundstage 12 building in the Hollywood Backlot section of the California Adventure Park. Talks range from the wines of various regions, inside and out of California (e.g. Napa, Central Coast, New Zealand, Italy, etc) or specific wineries such as Francis Ford Coppola, Château Ste Michelle and Iron Horse. There are also Women in Wine seminars featuring prominent women in the California wine industry such as Regina Martinelli of the Martinelli Winery in Sonoma. Several of the wine seminars are followed by bottle signings by respective representatives of featured wineries. These are typically held in the middle of day ranging from 11am to 645pm. The seminars are typically free, tastings require a dollar for a ticket & admission (and only those over 21 are allowed in). Lines for more famous wineries may be several hours long, but typically a line is about a half hour long. Likewise, expect long lines for Kitchen Conversations, the events featuring celebrity chefs.
The Signature Events require an reservation price which, if they are inside the Park, are in addition to the price of admission. Several are cooking schools and expert level wine tastings and they may be held in the Grand California Hotel's Napa Rose or Conference Center. Many of these events sell out well in advance. Other events include Jr Chefs (cooking for children) and Beer and Spirits Seminars.
The Disney California Food and Wine Festival continues until May 31st. Visit the homepage for more information and be sure to review the daily schedule and call ahead for limited seat events.
