This year marks the 20th anniversary for Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" Broadway production and to celebrate, Disney Theatrical Productions, NETworks, and Broadway Entertainment Group have announced the first international tour for the musical.

Previously, Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" toured across the United States and in Canada, delighting audiences with the now famous songs, punch lines, and characters originally made popular by the film of the same name which came out in 1991. Starting in Oct. 2014, the tour will kick off oversees to countries that have never hosted the Disney musical before such as Istanbul, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, and Singapore.

The new international tour will consist of the original Broadway production along with members of the original creative team such as director Rob Ruth, choreographer Matt West, Tony Award winner and costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, and others. As of April 2014, auditions are being held and casting announcements will be made within the next few months.

"We are thrilled to be collaborating with NETWorks and Broadway Entertainment Group, to launch this first-ever international tour. To premiere Disney's Beauty and the Beast in these cities throughout the Middle East and Asia, is a perfect way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our beloved stage musical," said Ron Kollen, Senior Vice President, International, Disney Theatrical Productions.

The original Broadway production began in 1994 and ran for 13 seasons, earning nine Tony Award nominations along the way. Since licensing of the musical began in 2004, the production has been performed in 22 counties in eight languages. In the United States alone, the show has been licensed to over 6,000 theaters including school, community, and professional productions.

At this time there are four tours of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" running in Paris, North America, Japan and Germany.
