Girl Meets World has been renewed for a second season.

The exclusive news broke out Wednesday, Aug. 6, by The Hollywood Reporter, stating that the studio renewed the series for a second season.

Girl Meets World is a spinoff to the famous Disney Channel series Boy Meets World, which has become a hit for Disney, and stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel who reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga respectively.

The series is set 14 years after the events of Boy Meets World and is based on the life of Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter) deemed as the new "Shawn", as they deal with their everyday life as middle school students, much like Boy Meets World.

The first season consists of five episodes so far with additional episodes set to premiere throughout the summer, and guest stars Boy Meets World alumni Mr. Feeney (William Daniels), Shawn (Rider Strong), Harley (Danny McNulty), Minkus (Lee Norris), Joshua (Uriah Shelton) and Cory’s parents Alan and Amy Matthews (William Russ and Betsy Randle).

The show also stars August Maturo, Peyton Meyer and Corey Fogelmanis.

In a statement to THR, Disney Channels Worldwide executive vp Adam Bonnett said, "The series swiftly became a favorite of kids and their parents, many of whom grew up with Boy Meets World. We're looking forward to watching Riley Matthews and Maya Hart make the world their own, as Cory and Topanga teach them life lessons along the way."

Girl Meets World airs Friday at 8:30 p.m. on Disney Channel.
