"Frozen" was released in the U.S. and Canada in November 2013. As of Jan. 22, 2014, "Frozen" has a box-office total of $759 million worldwide, with $333 million of that total coming from the U.S. and Canada. The "Frozen" soundtrack is also a hit. It was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified gold (500,000 copies shipped) by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The voice stars of "Frozen" include Kristin Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Santino Fontana.
"Frozen" is nominated for two Oscars: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Let It Go"). The movie has already won Best Animated Feature at other major movie awards, including the Golden Globes and the Critics' Choice Awards.
In a Disney press release, Walt Disney Studios executive VP of theatrical distribution Dave Hollis commented on the "Frozen" sing-along release: “‘Frozen’ fans have embraced the film’s original songs and its soundtrack with such passion—there are countless YouTube videos from people singing songs like ‘Let It Go’—we decided to create a version that would celebrate that enthusiasm,” said , The . “It’s a great opportunity for families to get together and have some fun with these songs.”
According to Hollis, on-screen lyrics and a magical bouncing snowflake will accompany select showings; moviegoers can check local listings for showtimes and theaters. The duration of the sing-along run will vary by theater.
At the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, the “Frozen” sing-along version includes on-stage appearances from the movie’s Elsa prior to each showing, plus snow flurries inside the theater. Showtimes are at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. PST.
"Frozen" will be released on DVD on Digital HD and Digital 3D on Fen. 25, 2014. Blu-ray and on VOD on March 18, 2014.
