Disney has released the initial "guest list" of villains to appear at the "Villains Unleashed" hard-ticket party to take place this August at Disneys Hollywood Studios. It includes characters from both the Disney and "Star Wars" universes.

On June 18, Disney Parks Blog released an initial list of villains to appear at its hard-ticket “Villains Unleashed” event, which will be held this August at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (DHS). The list confirms the event will feature a mix of Disney and “Star Wars” characters.

Disney Parks Blog notes “Villains Unleashed” will offer attending guests the chance to see “more than 50 villains.” Although this initial list, at 25 names, is not comprehensive, it does provide a sense of the party’s “guest list.” The hard-ticket will include some headline big baddies, sidekicks, and a couple of esoteric choices.

The characters will participate in the hard-ticket “Villains Unleashed” event, held Aug. 23, in several ways. Planned entertainment includes character greetings, meet-and-greets, “Hades Hangout & Dance Party,” Oogie Boogie’s Variety Show,” a “Star Wars” villain zone, and a villain-inspired pre-show to “Fantasmic!” and a new “Villainy In The Skies” fireworks spectacular. (Worth noting: entertainment is subject to change.)

Among the iconic villains appearing that even the casual Disney fan will recognize: Cruella De Vil, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee, Gaston, Jafar, Maeleficent and the Queen of Hearts. The wickedly funny Lady Tremaine from “Cinderella,” wouldn’t miss the opportunity to attend a party. She’s expected to have her daughters Anastasia and Druzilla in tow.

Less frequently seen Disney Villains also are on the roster. The opportunity to see – and get photos with – rarer characters are considered on of the draws of such hard-ticket events.

“Hercules” has four characters at the party. Hades and his sidekicks Pain and Panic will appear. (Also on the tentative list is Megara, whom many Disney fans may not consider a villain.)

J. Worthington “Honest John” Foulfellow and his fellow con man (con cat?) Gideon, two of the antagonists of “Pinocchio.” (Unleashed Villains guests should pay the two no heed if they suggest leaving DHS to visit Pleasure Island, which closed at Walt Disney World in 2008.) Another “Pinocchio” villain, Stromboli, has not yet been confirmed.

The “Villains Unleashed” roster also includes Big Bad Wolf, presumably without pigs. Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, the three hungry hyenas from “The Lion King,’ apparently without Scar. Bowler Hat Guy, a.k.a. Michael “Goob” Yaboobian, from Disney’s 2007 animated film “Meet the Robinsons” is also slated to appear.

Both Darth Vader and Darth Maul will represent the villains – and respective trilogies – of the “Star Wars” universe. But that’s just a start. Other characters that appear at DHS during Star Wars Weekends will be part of the evening: Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Emperor Palpatine, Asaji Ventress, and Zam Wessell. Plus, the evening will have a Stormtrooper or two.

Some of the more rarely-seen Disney characters on this list also appear at other hard-ticket parties and special events, such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler after-party. Many characters also appeared at the “Unleash the Villains,” the popular Limited Time Magic event held last fall at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park.

Expected to appear, but not yet officially confirmed, are Oogie Boogie from "The Nightmare Before Christmas;" the Evil Queen from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs;" Judge Frollo, from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame;" Shan Yu from "Mulan;" Governor Ratcliffe from "Pocahontas;" the Sheriff of Nottingham from "Robin Hood;" and Dr. Facilier, from "The Princess and the Frog." These characters appeared at "Unleash the Villains."

Walt Disney World will release more information on “Villains Unleashed” as the event draws closer. Tickets to the event are available for $67 for adults (ages 10 and older) and $62 for children (ages 3-9), excluding tax. Guests may purchase tickets at or call 407-939-1933.
