Disney plans ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo spinoff (Photos)

Hopefully the force will be strong with Disney as the company may be biting off more than it can handle. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed on Tuesday Feb 5 that in addition to the new trilogy in the works, they are adding Star Wars spin-off movies to their plans. In the works are multiple spin-off films to be centered on the characters of Han Solo and Boba Fett. According to Anthony Breznican at EW.com, "There has been speculation about some standalone films that have been in development, and I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few stand-alone films.” Loyal fans skepticism has lessened somewhat when they learned of J.J. Abrams taking the helm of Star Wars: Episode VII. Yet many are again leery of the prospect of stretching the iconic adventure story too far.

A new actor will get his chance to instant fame in playing the younger Han Solo. Harrison Ford was a seasoned 35 years old when he made the original Star Wars: Episode IV. This younger actor will have the chance to portray the smuggler as audiences will learn of his background. The Han Solo film will be set between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Undoubtedly audiences will get to see the climatic game of chance where Han loses the Millennium Falcon to Lando Calrissian. Hopefully they will also find out how Han and Chewbacca join forces.

Iger has mentioned there will be characters completely new to the franchise; however, there are plans to make films surrounding Han Solo, Boba Fett, and possibly even Yoda. One question remains. Will be will Jabba the Hut be any thinner?
