Disney Interactive made an appearance this week at the annual American International Toy Fair in New York City. They were there to unveil the playable heroes Mike and Sulley from the Monsters University portion of the upcoming Disney Infinity game. Monsters University is also the upcoming prequel to Pixar’s Monsters Inc., where we get to see how the lovable duo met in college and joined forces to become scarers at Monsters Inc.
Monsters University is one of three play sets (physical toys that when placed on the Infinity base will unlock virtual toys like characters, buildings, weapons and gadgets from different Disney-Pixar films to use in-game) that will be available when Disney Infinity launches in June. Here are the event details and launch trailer. At the reveal last month, Disney Interactive and developer Avalanche Software also showed play sets based on The Incredibles and Pirates of the Caribbean. The characters play in their respective film universes but can then be mashed up in Disney Infinity’s Toy Box mode. In Toy Box mode there are no rules and you can create your own Disney themed adventures.
Disney Infinity is launching in June and will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.
