Unless you are into Disneyana, you might not be aware of a Hidden Mickey and their collectible nature. These items can bring big money on eBay. There is an entire culture surrounding Hidden Mickeys, which are a representation of Mickey Mouse that has been incorporated very subtly into the design of a ride, attraction, or other location on a Disney property. For the purposes of eBay, Hidden Mickeys refer to a plush animal, such as a bear or bunny, whose face has the iconic representation of Mickey Mouse. The paw pads also may have an imprint of the Mickey Mouse face shape.
Experienced eBay sellers often search for these plush animals at thrift stores, garage sales, flea markets, or anywhere they can find used items for sale. Depending on when the plush item was produced, how many were produced, and how rare the item is, some of these items can sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Hidden Mickeys are especially attractive to Japanese buyers who collect them, so if you find one and want top dollar for it, be prepared to ship internationally.
This Hidden Mickey recently sold for $1,050 on eBay. He was a 2003 Valentine red Hidden Mickey bear, and quite rare. Other rare Hidden Mickeys include bears in green, purple, pink, or blue colors. If you are an eBay seller, be sure to put Hidden Mickeys on your list of treasures to look for when visiting thrift stores.
