Collider learned yesterday that thanks to the success of Disney’s “Oz the Great and Powerful” the studio has decided to go ahead with its planned “Beauty and the Beast” live action remake.
The new film, titled “The Beast,” seems like it will be a dark re-imagining of the 1993 classic animated film, and Joe Ahearne (“Trance”) has been hired to write the screenplay.
This starts another race, similar to the “Snow White” war of 2012, between this and Guillermo del Toro’s (“Mimic”) version set up at Warner Bros. with Emma Watson (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”) currently set to star.
My money is on the film with the gorgeous girl.
