If you thought that the Man of Steel sequel facing off against The Avengers: Age of Ultron in summer 2015 wasn't big enough, then Ant-Man will take it an inch further.
Disney announced Monday that the release date for Ant-Man has moved up from November 6, 2015 to July 31, 2015, less than two weeks after the release of the Man of Steel sequel with Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman -- with Ben Affleck as Batman.
The alter-ego of scientist Henry "Hank" Pym, Ant-Man is one of the founding members of The Avengers, a team of "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" who fights the foes -- and battles -- that no one ever could.
Ant-Man is "Phase Three" of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which began with Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man in 2008, and concluded last summer with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D. assembling Marvel's The Avengers.
"Phase Two" began this summer with Iron Man 3, and continues with November 8's Thor: The Dark World with Chris Hemsworth as the demi-god of thunder; Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014) with Chris Evans as the patriotic super-soldier; Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014) with Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, and The Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015.
