This week’s Disney Getaway is a trip to Southern California for a backstage trip like no other. It’s the Backstage Magic tour, offered by Adventures by Disney.
In six days and five nights, the Backstage Magic tour takes guests on a trip around Los Angeles and Anaheim, visiting favorite spots of Walt Disney and taking exclusive, behind-the-scenes tours of some of The Walt Disney Company’s most iconic sites.
Guests spend the first two nights of the tour in Hollywood with rooms at the Loew’s Hollywood Hotel, a luxury hotel featuring a view of the famous “Hollywood” sign from many rooms. This hotel is located in the Hollywood & Highland Center, a shopping, dining, and entertainment complex that includes the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. And you'll have plenty of time to take your pictures with that famous backdrop: the first night of the tour includes a welcome dinner and plenty of free time to get out there and see the Hollywood sights.
On the second day, the tour is all about old Hollywood. Guests will visit Disney-centric sites around Hollywood, including dinner at Tam O’Shanter, where Walt Disney often dined, and even a VIP visit to the Jim Henson Company, located on the site of Charlie Chaplin's own movie studio.
The next day is all about Disney history. Guests experience behind the scenes visits to Walt Disney Imagineering, a private tour of The Walt Disney Studios, and a visit to the Walt Disney Archives. After that, it’s off to Disneyland Resort for the night, enjoying VIP treatment at the park that Walt built.
The next two days are spent at the Disneyland Resort. There are VIP tours of Disneyland, including Walt Disney’s private apartment, some backstage attraction tours, and a ride in the Lily Belle, Walt’s private parlor car for the Disneyland Railroad. (It was named for his wife!) A special in-park breakfast before Disneyland opens heightens the VIP treatment.
And at Disney California Adventure Park, private experiences include a drawing session with a sketch artist and a behind the scenes look at Soarin’ Over California before buckling up for a ride. Also included are character dining with Chef Goofy in the morning and a farewell dinner with a VIP viewing of World of Color. During these three nights, guests stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, an Arts and Crafts inspired hotel complete with spa, fine dining, and its own entrance into Disney California Adventure.
Adventures by Disney tours offer travel experiences like no other: Disney provides seamless, hassle-free travel, small groups, out-going and knowledgeable tour guides, and unequalled access and cultural understanding in locations around the world. VIP treatment, backstage access, and exclusive admissions are just part of the tour with ABD packages, no matter where in the world you’re traveling. And while tours are tailored to bring families of all ages together, there are also adult-only dates for travelers who are looking for grown-up time only.
The Backstage Magic tour offers a truly unique opportunity for Disney fans to view, tour, and learn about the history and studio locations of The Walt Disney Company, to say nothing of getting up close and personal with the places Walt Disney worked and played. It’s also a wonderful social opportunity for Disney fans to meet, connect, and tour together.
Backstage Magic tours are scheduled monthly through early 2015. Rates start at $2,709 per person and include accommodations, admission fees, most meals, and transfers for yourself and your luggage throughout the tour.
