Disney Cruise Line carry-on alcohol policy changing September 19

BREAKING NEWS: There's an online outcry due to this policy change. and some people are reporting that Disney Cruise Line is telling them over the phone that the policy is now on hold. These are anecdotal reports so far.

Some cruise lines forbid you completely from bringing alcohol on board, but Disney Cruise Line has always been an exception. Now, the line is tightening the rules starting on September 19. Here are the new restrictions:

-You may bring one bottle of wine or champage per person over age 21, or 6 bottles or cans of beer

-The alcoholic beverages must be carried onto the ship

-Alcohol found in checked luggage will be confiscated

-Excess alcohol found in carry-on luggage will be confiscated

As always, Disney Cruise Line charges a corkage fee for personal bottles of wine brought into the restaurants. Expect to pay $20 per bottle.

Disney's newest ship, the Dream, is a paradise for repeat cruisers. Read more about that by clicking here. I'll be be doing a live trip report from the Dream, which will be my 82nd Disney cruise, later this month.
