Keith Richards' forthcoming memoir, Life, is filled with precisely the sort of stories that you might expect one of the members of the Rolling Stones to tell: women, drugs, drinking, and other rock star cliches will all make an appearance in the book, and fans of the Stones are looking forward to getting their hands on their own copies later this year. Not so happy about the memoir? Disney, who's threatening to pull the plug on Richards' Pirates of The Caribbean 4 appearance after learning that the rocker admits to drug use in the tome. Read on for the details, my gentle Examiner readers...
If there's one thing that everyone knows about Keith Richards, it's that he loves him some drugs. Oh, sure, he's also a part of one of the most successful rock bands that have ever toured the world, but he's equally-- if not more-- famous for his hard-living lifetstyle. After years of dodging prison, lengthy rehab stays (unless you wanna count those blood transfusions), and the condemnation of the media, it appears that Richards has finally raised the ire of one very unlikely group: Disney, who's considering cutting Richards' role in Pirates of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides after they were shocked-- shocked!-- to discover that Richards admits to drug use in his new book, Life.
Disney is also reportedly shocked to discover that grass is green, that Sarah Palin isn't in it for the people, and that there's gambling in Rick's Place. Here's what they're saying about the situation over at The Drudge Report:
DISNEY executives are sweating it out as salty details of an upcoming book written by rocker/actor Keith Richards leak and splash. Executives fear the rocker’s shocking admissions in his new book, LIFE, may cause a firestorm and ignite a backlash around the family-friendly Magic Kingdom. Among the concerns, Richards appears to detail how to safely get stoned: Use ‘high-quality drugs’ in moderation! Richard writes: “It’s not only the high quality of drugs I had that I attribute my survival to. I was very meticulous about how much I took. I’d never put more in to get a little higher. That’s where most people f**k up on drugs.”
So, what's likely to happen? It sounds to me like Disney's looking to put Richards in his place a bit. Perhaps, if the rocker were to come out and speak against drug use to the press (maybe clarifying some of what he's already written), the Mouse House would be more inclined to allow his scenes to remain intact. Then again, the coverage of the situation thus far may be enough to keep Disney from allowing Richards' appearance to slide. Guess we'll have to wait and see, huh?
