A brand new original movie is coming to the Disney Channel. A story of good vs. evil will once again be brought up in a live-action movie called “Descendants,” thanks to the imagination of Disney. According to Deadline on Dec. 12, choreographer Kenny Ortega is onboard to direct this interesting version of what happens after the villains get defeated by goodness and go off to have their own kids.
This movie is said to be a contemporary adventure-comedy that will spike the interest of most Disney fans. The story is like no other fairytale as the focus will be on the offspring of all of those not-so-beloved classic characters from the past. Jafar, the Evil Queen, Maleficent and yes, even Cruella De Vil ended up having a child. Imagine that!
The fairytale is in present day in a kingdom where the villain kids have been cast to an island alongside all of the other villains that you can think of. Who knows just how long they have been there? Those kids are going to be confused by their evil influence of their parents and also by the goodness that lies deep in their hearts. Which will they choose?
Along comes the teenage son of Belle and the Beast, who are now the King and Queen, as he is set to take over the throne. He has an idea to give Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay, also known as the descendants, a chance to redeem themselves. He sends them off to a school that is taught by our favorite good characters such as Rapunzel, Mulan, Sleeping Beauty and the Fairy Godmother. They will have to choose sides; good or evil.
As you remember, “High School Musical” was huge for Disney and for Kenny Ortega as he got his groove on with that hit musical. The Disney Channel is known for having quite a few successes in cable television with their original movies and this one might just add to their growing list.
Casting has already begun and production for “Descendants” is set to begin this spring. You will have to wait until 2015 for its exciting premiere.
What do you think of this storyline? Will the Disney Channel have another huge hit with “Descendants?”
