On Aug. 28, Walt Disney World announced several changes that will affect the entertainment options at Epcot. Several new experiences will debut at World Showcase this fall, replacing some of the park’s current live performances.

In the announcement, Disney Parks Blog noted several new entertainment offerings coming to World Showcase, characterizing them as offering fresh experiences for guests. The new entertainment options were presented as Disney’s commitment to offering live entertainment’s role that contributes to World Showcase’s feeling of cultural immersion.

Four new entertainment acts are slated to debut at Epcot this fall. B'met Houariyat, a traditional Berber music and dance troupe, will appear in Morocco. Sbandierator Flags, a corps of dynamic flag-waving performers, will showcase their choreographed moves in Italy. The Canadian Lumberjack Show, which Disney refers to as a thrill show, will hold performances at Canada. The Scottish Musical Trio, a Celtic folk music ensemble, will perform in the United Kingdom pavilion.

Several live entertainment acts will end their runs at Epcot as part of the change. Four popular groups will have their last performances in September: Mo’Rockin, a musical group (who often perform with a belly dancer) in Morocco; Off Kilter, the Celtic rock band that plays at the Canada pavilion; the Spirit of America Fife & Drum Corps that offers a traditional and patriotic musical experience at the American Adventure pavilion, and the World Showcase Players, a comedic improv group that entertains at the United Kingdom pavilion.

Disney did not provide details about the new entertainment or the transition, including specific debut dates for the new acts. Nor did the announcement provide final performance dates for current World Showcase entertainment groups.

But WDWMagic, an unofficial Walt Disney World fan site, posted final performances for Mo’Rockin, Off Kilter and Spirit of America will take place Sept. 27, and the final performances for the World Showcase Players will take place Sept. 25. Members of these entertainment acts have confirmed these dates via social media.

This is not the first time this year that Walt Disney World has changed its World Showcase entertainment offerings. The Ziti Sisters, a comedy troupe that performed in World Showcase’s Italy pavilion. The troupe has not yet been replaced, although today’s announcement does include the addition of a flag-waving corps to Italy.

Disney Parks Blog also alluded to “enhancements to some existing performances.” Details regarding these enhancements - performances, as well as information about the new entertainment coming to World Showcase, have yet to be released.
