Dismal prognosis for dog left to starve for weeks in New York

Queenie, the emaciated, elderly dog who was allegedly locked away in a bedroom for weeks by a vengeful ex-husband, has been given a dismal prognosis for recovery.

The dog, a ten-year-old Cane Corso, has been in the care of the Grady Animal Hospital in Sayville, N.Y., since she was discovered this past weekend.

Within the past 24 hours, her veterinarians have released dire news:

Queenie's bloodwork showed that she is in kidney failure. She is stable, but her condition paired with being a ten-year-old senior, severely compromises her longevity.

Though Queenie's expected length of survival is short, it is expected to be good. Shared from her care-providers:

The rescue organization, Guardians of Rescue, who initially took Queenie in, have been keeping their Facebook followers apprised of her condition. Click here to view their Facebook page.

Though charges have not yet been filed against the man believed to be responsible for Queenie's horrific condition, they are expected.
