Fox News reports that a disturbing video has gone viral and attracted at least 10,000 views. An unknown Cleveland Browns fan has shown his insensitivity and stupidity by urinating on Art Modell’s gravesite. Modell is the former owner of the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens. In the video, an unnamed man approaches Modell’s gravesite wearing a Raven’s jersey. He then removes it and is seen wearing a Cleveland Brown jersey underneath. The disgruntled fan said he had no choice but to urinate on the grave.
Modell is buried at the Druid Ridge Cemetery in Pikesville, MD. The incident has led to a police investigation. The Modell family and cemetery officials have said they are angry about the incident and will try to find the perpetrator. In Baltimore, committing lewd acts in a cemetery is a crime.
The Baltimore Ravens website provides a biography of the late NFL team owner. In 1961, Modell bought the Cleveland Browns NFL franchise for $4 million. Then in 1996, he packed his bags and headed to Baltimore, Maryland to start the Ravens franchise. Unfortunately, Cleveland Browns fans did not forgive him for the move. But Browns fans would not be without football for long.
In 1998, businessman Al Lerner paid $350 million for the right to bring the Browns back to Cleveland. For the upcoming draft, the revamped Cleveland Browns selected Tim Couch (Kentucky) to lead their football team. Modell spent 45 years in the NFL, which includes 17 as the Raven’s owner. Since Modell bought the Ravens, they have won two Superbowls and have signed many great players. All time Raven’s greats include Ed Reed, Shannon Sharpe, Ray Lewis, the late Steve McNair, and Derek Mason. On February 3, 2013, the Baltimore Ravens defeated the 49ers in the Superbowl 34-31 on February 3, 2013 the Superdome in New Orleans.
