Discussion panel de-iced: surveilling the Surveillance State

Barring further wintery onslaughts, details for the libertarian's rescheduled panel discussion are as follows:

The Surveillance State, a panel discussion, will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2013 (postponed from December 7) at 6:30 PM in Munson's Room next to the Ace's Lounge lobby bar in the Hyatt Regency DFW Hotel (inside DFW Airport) located at 2334 North International Parkway, Dallas, Texas.

There is no charge and the public is welcome.

As everyone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex knows who crawled out from under Aunt Mildred's heavy winter quilt last weekend and looked around, North Texas roads were transformed into long vehicular hockey rinks.

Which meant that among many other activities the speaker panel to be hosted by the Libertarian Party of Dallas County in conjunction with the Libertarian National Committee's business meeting was postponed since none of the participants or attendees were likely professional hockey players and were therefore unable to attend.

This event, assuming no further ice tsunamis or snowquakes, has now been successfully rescheduled.

The panelists, however, have changed a bit. Here's the lineup at this writing:

Gregory Foster is President of EFF-Austin which, although it's similar to but not formally connected with its national Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) namesake, nonetheless professes in its Mission Statement "We promote the right of all citizens to communicate and share information without unreasonable constraint. We also advocate the fundamental right to explore, tinker, create, and innovate along the frontier of emerging technologies."

Rodney Caston is an information security consultant with over fifteen years experience with several internet providers and telecommunication companies. Caston told Dallas Libertarian Examiner "I'll be happy to speak about my personal history with the government and domestic surveillance as it relates to wireless providers, internet providers, and the amount of unencrypted data being collected on their customers for the government." Caston is also the Libertarian Party candidate for State Representative from District 106.

Tristan Tucker serves as Veteran's Outreach for DFW NORML. Needless to say, in its long drive to end cannabis prohibition many members of this organization have gained unwanted firsthand experience with government surveillance.

At this writing at least one more speaker is being sought to round out the panel. For full info and latest updates visit Dallas Libertarians or LPDC website or this Facebook Events Page.
