According to an article published by Fox News on Jan. 9, the name of Discovery's “Military Channel” is changing for the second time since its launch.

Fox News reports that officials at Discovery have decided to change the name of its “Military Channel” to the “American Heroes Channel.” The change is scheduled to take place on March 3, 2014.

A spokesperson for Discovery says they decided to change the name of the channel to “broaden its current appeal.” The channel currently features shows that are related to history and the military. After the change, the “American Heroes Channel” will also feature programming about other heroes like firefighters and police officers.

Reports indicate that the “American Heroes Channel” will launch with four new series and specials airing in the first week. The premiere programs will include; “Raw War: The Lost Film of Dak To,” “Against the Odds,” “CIA: Declassified,” and “Codes & Conspiracies.”

Discovery first launched the channel in 1999 and called it “Discovery Wings.” Then, in 2005 they changed focus, and changed its name to the “Military Channel.”
