Nested around the beautiful "Plaza" in downtown Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico you can find a friendly place devoted to great wines, delicious food and all kind of spirit cocktails, Wines. Bar y Tapas. Owners Manuel Torres and Omayra Quintana opened this quaint establishment over 8 years ago after getting inspiration from their travels around Europe. They loved the lay back, and friendly environment at the tapas bars in Spain, so they decided to create their own in their hometown of Cabo Rojo.
Manuel works full time as a bank manager and Omayra is a real estate broker, but they count with their talented son Christian that manages the business that opens from Wednesday to Saturday (6:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m.) At Wines. Bar y Tapas you can enjoy a small but hand picked selection of wines from Spain, Argentina, Chile, Italy, France, Napa and other California wine regions. You can enjoy your wine by the glass paired with some delicious tapas or purchase your bottle at retail and enjoy it at home.
It was great to share a bottle of 2009 Ceja Vineyards Vino de Casa (60% Pinot Noir and 40% Syrah) Napa Valley wine with Manuel and Omayra as they shared La Madrid 2010 Cabernet Franc from Argentina with us. You can tell how everyone enjoys Manuel and Omayra's presence; while sitting with us they keep greeting everyone that came through the door. Must customer seems to be regulars with some newcomers making their way in.
Just before the skirt steak arrives another bottle of wine, 2008 Pujanza, a full body Rioja red from Spain. Three well crafted delicious wines, very different aromas and flavors that paired perfectly with the board of Spanish cheeses and charcuterie, Spanish chorizo, fresh bread (pan criollo) and the so tender and flavorful Angus skirt steak with chimichurri sauce and tostones (fried green plantain).
Wines. Bar y Tapas, a great surprise in the middle of downtown Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico where you can enjoy some of the best beaches in the island. Please like them in Facebook: Wines. Bar y Tapas.
