Discovering the Genius of Catholicism

Catholicism has only one weakness: catholics!"

Thus says the LORD:

Here is my servant whom I uphold,
my chosen one with whom I am pleased,
upon whom I have put my spirit;
he shall bring forth justice to the nations,
not crying out, not shouting,
not making his voice heard in the street.
a bruised reed he shall not break,
and a smoldering wick he shall not quench,
until he establishes justice on the earth;
the coastlands will wait for his teaching."
Isaiah 42:1-4, 6-7

Jesus had no other spirit but the Spirit of Love, uniting Himself and the Father. Catholics, like myself, have every other spirit of the world reside in us at least once in our lifetime. This causes an anti-Christian reaction within us, opposite of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It causes us to bring injustice to our world, crying and shouting in the streets, bruising broken souls and quenching flickering flames of faith. And I am not alone. Bishops, priests, deacons, religious, catechists, and 'holy' men and women of outward piety have joined me in this parody of Catholicism.

That's why the genius of Catholicism affords God's Mercy in confession.

"Give to the LORD, you sons of God,
give to the LORD glory and praise,
Give to the LORD the glory due his name;
adore the LORD in holy attire
." Psalm 29:1-4, 9-10

And the genius of Catholicism is in the grace of the Prodigal Father extending Mercy to the world through the saving action of His Son in the imperfect people of God, assembled with the priest, offering the perpetual, sacramental, Sacrifice of Jesus on His Cross for the salvation of man. Genius, and beauty, is found in the participation of the imperfect, in the Perfect Sacrifice, for their perfection.

Sinners participating in the Cross, becoming saints in humble acknowledgment of their own depravity, while experiencing awe inspiring joy at the Mercy of God.

"Peter proceeded to speak to those gathered
in the house of Cornelius, saying:
“In truth, I see that God shows no partiality.
Rather, in every nation whoever fears him and acts uprightly
is acceptable to him
." Acts 10:34-38

The genius of Catholicism is that it is Catholic. God's Love, made known through Jesus' Church, is catholic, or universal--for all people, on all continents, for all ages, if only they believe and repent. For Catholicism is the working of the Holy Spirit in the world. And the Catholic Mass is heaven penetrating earth and the human person entering heaven through Jesus.

Catholics should get on board!

"After Jesus was baptized,
he came up from the water and behold,
the heavens were opened for him,
and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove
and coming upon him.
And a voice came from the heavens, saying,
'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased
.'” Matthew 3:13-17

The genius of Catholicism is Jesus Himself. The genius is Jesus' Cross, which opens life to the believer through baptism--the gateway to the seven fonts of grace (7 sacraments), par excellence in the Body and Blood of Jesus found truly, and sacramentally, present in the Eucharist. The genius of Catholicism is grace which brings faith, hope, and charity--transforming sinners into saints in the genius of Divine Mercy.
