Rhode Island is a favorite destination for travelers seeking a quiet retreat and taking in the fresh air and beauty of the fall foliage. The best time to witness the incredible mix of colors is from the last part of August through October. It comes as no surprise that fall is one of Rhode Island’s busiest tourist seasons.

Rhode Island provides visitors with a wide variety of landscapes. Visitors can choose to hike the countryside, stroll along the coastline, hike in the forests or tour the vineyards. It's hard to imagine that all of this is found in this charming area of the northeast. Fall in Rhode Island provides visitors to a multitude of things to see and do. But it is the orange, red and gold-colored leaves of the forests and countryside that attracts visitors to the region.

Providence, the capital of Rhode Island has seen some major changes within the last decade. A stroll along Benefit Street is not to be missed. The downtown area features a number of shopping malls, charming little New England shops and restaurants. Visitors can watch the sky light up through the month of October with bonfires lined up along the city's river.

Federal Hill is the place to be if you want to experience world class cuisine. It is recognized as one of the country's best culinary spots featuring a number of award-winning restaurants. The area is known for its ties with the Italian-American community. It's no wonder why Federal Hill is referred to as one of the Best Little Italy's in America.

Visitors are always surprised to learn that Rhode Island is home to some of New England’s best wineries. Most of Rhode Island's vineyards are only an hour away from Providence. The best way to experience the wineries is through the Coastal Wine Trail. The trail runs through the southeastern region of New England. Sample some of the best wines in the region as you travel through charming little towns and villages.
