Discover some great local wines right in your backyard. Growth of the local wine industry has exploded. According to the Minnesota Grape Growers Association (MGGA), the industry is growing at a rate of 28% annually. The MGGA reports that there are 43 wineries in the state actively selling wine.
A great way to explore these local wines is the “Discovery Passport.” The MGGA began offering the passport in July to get people out to the tasting rooms where they can discover some of the great Minnesota wines. With your passport you get a free tasting at 10 of the 30 sponsored wineries.
A tasting typically includes 3 to 10 wine offerings. Each winery also has a special offer for the passport holder. These include offers such as discounts off food or bottles of wine. Included in your passport are great facts about each Minnesota Winery and their location.
The passport costs $25 and can be purchased at mngrapegrowers.com/passport . It expires after you have redeemed all 10 of your tastings. You can then purchase a new passport. The “Discovery Passport” is a great way to discover and try local wine.
