Discover Many Hopes 2014 Gala: Inspiring immediate action for a great cause

This past Tuesday, the second annual Discover Many Hopes Gala took place at Canoe Studios in Chelsea. The event benefitted Many Hopes, a charitable organization that invests in sustainable community development on 5 related fronts in Kenya one community at a time: girls homes, quality school, boys homes, medical facility and community water. It’s a solution to the poverty and corruption that exploits boys and girls in Kenya. Leighton Meester, AnnaLynne McCord, Zachary Levi, Jessica Stam, Oliva Culpo, Karen Elson, Jeremy Penn, Chloe Flower, and Meghan Markle were the hosts of the Discover Many Hopes Gala. Thomas Keown, a co-founder of Many Hopes, was also in attendance. Guests enjoyed Starr African Rum specialty cocktails, white wine, and Stella Artois. They also enjoyed small bites such as mini grilled cheese sandwiches, mini zucchini pizza slices, and mini bruschettas. Jon Batiste provided a special performance and there were DJ sets by DJ Zeke Thomas.

The event also featured a silent auction with items such as sports memorabilia, tickets to a performance by the Paul Taylor Dance Company, a night out at hotspot The Box, and a painting by Jeremy Penn called Hot Lips, among many other amazing items. The goal for the evening’s gala was to raise $400,000 to open a new school in Kenya for 900 students. As of the most recent update, Many Hopes was $1123 away from that goal. There’s still time to donate to this amazing cause! To do so, please visit What an inspirational cause!
