Welcome to the final installment of our series, Discover Lake Oroville.
Lake Oroville has many attractions to keep you interested and content. But if you are contemplating a week's stay on the water, a side trip to see what's happening on nearby terra firma may offer some interesting diversions.
Death by Disco
The largest city nearby is Chico, about a forty-five minute drive from the Lake. If you are seeking just one place to visit for a few hours, you may want to check out Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. The company has spent some serious bucks making this company a compelling destination with its plant, gift shop, brewery tours (for ages 21 and older) and special events. The roster of events in its Big Room, featuring such upcoming concerts as Death by Disco, shows that the company is interested in attracting a lively crowd of all ages.
Miss going to your local Farmer's Market? Chico has one also, located in downtown Chico every Saturday morning. Chico State University has a lively arts and music scene and you can locate campus events here.
Feeling lucky? Gold Country Casino is practically within shouting distance of Lake Oroville. This casino also offers entertainment, a wide variety of dining options (including fine dining and an espresso bar), plus the standard casino menu (poker parlor, slots and table games). In 2013 Gold Country partnered with Forever Resorts, offering a popular package that included a dinner cruise on Lake Oroville.
