Looking for a furry friend to cuddle up to this winter? The Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago has launched their Certified Pre-Owned Cats CATpaign to help place abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens into loving homes.

"We are having this particular cat promotion, because we always have so many more cats than dogs that need to find homes," explains Emily Ledergerber, manager of marketing and events. "So with this particular promotion, we are hoping that by offering a discounted adoption fee, it will increase our cat adoptions and find homes for our wonderful cats."

Throughout the month of January, cat adoptions are 20 percent off the regular $60 fee, in addition to a complete veterinary exam, vaccinations, feline leukemia testing, sterilization, and microchipping. The organization's Share the Love CATpaign and Home for the Holidays CATpaign placed more than 720 cats into homes.

"If it is as successful as our past promotions, we will more than likely bring it back in the spring, as spring is 'kitten season' and we will see a surge in abandoned cats," says Ledergerber.
