Guests stepped out on a Monday night for a special Symmetry Live event on the rooftop of the W Hotel featuring Disclosure, a duo of U.K. brothers who offer up an electronic sound that is more than just a heavy house beat. Mingling aside, the building lit up for the awaited performance and just past nine, the two took the stage looking fresh-plucked from a crowd of co-eds with a talent measuring beyond their youthfulness. Though early technical difficulty delayed them from hitting their stride, it seemed like a fluke (times two) on both the part of the artists and the hotel itself.
Lucky fans could win access to the private event through contests on the hotel's social media pages leading up to last night. The event itself was well-orchestrated, the hotel's Living Room area allowing guest access, but the rooftop reserved for those by invite only.
Cocktails flowed including the “Stimulation” drink appropriately duplicating a Disclosure song of the same name. A fun take on a Cosmopolitan with dry ice balls causing the cocktail to look like a chic witch’s brew. Entering the event eager guests were told the rooftop was at capacity and while it there was a great crowd, rubbing elbows didn't come until later when Disclosure hit the stage. People flocked to the front but in a chill, school night manner versus a rager that a Saturday crawling towards 2 a.m. might bring.
Fans of live music should keep current with what the W Hotel has in store for the coming months. Updates and information can be found via its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Disclosure continues their tour with a stop tomorrow night at House of Blues for a sold out event.
