If you live in or around the Twin Cities metro area and your looking for a new course to try, Becker city park is worth a look. The course is located about 30 miles North west of Anoka in Becker Minnesota, just across from the Pebble Creek golf course.
The course is 18 holes of rolling terrain with a good mix of wooded and open shots. The course is 6200 feet from the long tee’s and is a par 60. Check the course map for a look at the layout.
The negatives of the course are few, but there are some. There is space wasted with some rather long walks between holes. The tee pads are gravel and dirt, they are not bad but concrete is much better. Hole #5 fairway should be mowed wider to get rid of some of the disc eating thick weeds that are in the surrounding area. The first tee is hard to find if you don’t know where to go. From the parking lot, walk to the right across the park to the back corner for tee pad #1.
The positives. Becker city disc golf course is one of the best free to play courses in Minnesota, it offers good challenging holes with little traffic even on nice weekend days. It’s not your normal city park, it feels like your in a park set up for disc golf. The course is fun to play.
If you’re in the Becker area, or if you want to get some friends and go make a day of disc golf, there are several other good courses not too far away. Riverside and Calvary Hill courses in St Cloud and Hidden lake disc golf course in St Augusta. It makes a nice circle of course that can be played in a good day of disc golf.
