Dirty Rock sprint triathlon rescheduled

Rockwall, TX - Due to muddy trails, the Dirty Rock sprint off-road triathlon scheduled for today is postponed to Saturday, August 2, 2014.

Play Tri, the race director, announced the postponement on its Facebook page:

"ATTN DIRTY ROCK RACERS: DORBA [Dallas Off Road Bike Association] has decided to keep the trail closed tomorrow due to the additional rain and lack of sun to dry the trail. We will have to postpone the race. We are rescheduling for Saturday, August 2nd. We will update you with more information on Monday. If you have questions or concerns, please email"

New date announced

The new date for the race was made to registered participants by email earlier today:

"As you all are aware the 2014 Dirty Rock had to be canceled for July 20th. The reason for this is due to the amount of rain the mountain bike trail received last week. It was determined by the Dallas Off Road Biking Association that the course had not dried out enough to provide a safe riding experience for the participants. We were hoping for the best on Friday but, yesterday’s cloudy and misty morning weather did not help to dry out the trails."
"For this we apologize for the late notice on Saturday. We must respect the trail authorities for your safety and the safety of your fellow participants. We are appreciative that the City of Rockwall has allowed us to re-schedule the race for August 2, 2014.
" If you are able to race on August 2nd and already have your race number, please keep your race number for the August 2nd date. If you are able to race and haven’t picked up your race number, we will have another packet pick-up the week of the race. We will send out another notice with dates/times/locations. If you are not able to race on August 2nd, we will transfer your registration to the 2015 Dirty Rock at no charge. If you wish to transfer your registration to 2015 we must have notice of this by August 1, 2014."
