Typically the Buick LeSabre isn't considered a rally type vehicle. However, consider the size and width of the vehicle and it's actually fairly stable. In the following video by "The Rally Buick", you can see how well the Buick LeSabre actually handles various terrains. When GM designed this vehicle, it was made to take abuse and drive in the snow. Snow built vehicles can purposely take off road adventures much better than the high performance street vehicles that are only meant for pavement.
Buick LeSabre specifications:
- 3.8 liter V6 3800 Series I&II
- 4T60-E automatic transmission
- 74.9 in. wide X 200.8 in. long
- 170 hp / 225 tq
- Front wheel drive
The Buick sits up high, and has an obvious clearance advantage. Also, pay special attention to the suspension as the Buick leaps and bounds through back country stick like a wild jack rabbit. Surprisingly, the Buick LeSabre is a great rally vehicle. The vehicle effectively handles jumps, corners, and rough terrain at high speeds; sounds like fun to me! Enjoy the following footage of "The Rally Buick" courtesy of the excellent engineering from 1990's General Motors. We will all miss you!
