Director starts Green Goblin rumors for sequel to 'The Amazing Spider-Man' (Photos)

There really isn't a whole lot known about the sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man," but a majority of the cast has already been revealed. Anything having to do with the plot has been kept tightly guarded, but a director may have given away a big secret to the sequel while at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013.

One of those that will be starring in the sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man" is Dane DeHaan of the movie "Chronicle." We know that his role will be that of Peter Parker's best friend Harry Osborn. Parker will again be played by Andrew Garfield.

It is a commonly known fact to anyone that has ever read a "Spider-Man" comic, or watched past films, that Osborn ends up becoming the Green Goblin after his father Norman can no longer do it. Well, HixFix is reporting that DeHaan was at Sundance to promote his new film "Kill Your Darlings," and director John Krokidas may have let the cat out of the bag.

When introducing the cast of "Kill Your Darlings," Krokidas went to introduce DeHaan and said:

"He's the Green Goblin."

At this point, it is reported that DeHaan merely smiled and took his place. Sony has neither confirmed nor denied this whatsoever, so it can now be taken as just a rumor. While two villains in the sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man" aren't out of the question, it is already known that Jamie Foxx will play Electro in the film.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" sequel is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.
