Director set for 'Y: The Last Man'

After years of being stuck in development hell, the movie adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan's Vertigo classic "Y: The Last Man" seems to finally be on its way to production.

Initially, D.J. Caruso (Disturbia, Eagle Eye) was attached to direct, but it was announced today that Dan Trachtenberg -- a director of commercials whom recently received notice for his Portal short film -- will be helming the adaptation of the book for New Line Cinema.

Released in 2002, "Y: The Last Man" follows the adventures of a young man named Yorick Brown after a plague kills every creature on Earth with a Y chromosome. Yorick, an amateur escape artist, and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand, embark on a quest to find his girlfriend in Australia, and along the way discover why they are the only males left alive.
