Joe Rock, the director of the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center, has been placed on administrative leave following allegations of animal cruelty at the shelter.

Earlier this month, Franklin County Commissioners released a statement confirming that an investigation was underway, after advocates presented their concerns to the commissioners.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, on Monday, Rock was sent a letter from the county administrator which says, “While the operations of the Animal Shelter and your management of the facility are investigated you are immediately being placed on administrative leave, subject to ratification by the Board of Commissioners.”

Rock will not be allowed on county property during the suspension.
