According to the University of Calgary Dinos website, the University of Calgary Dinos football team is ranked third in Canadian Interuniversity Sport to begin the 2013 season in a report released on Tuesday.
The Dinos are ranked behind the defending Vanier Cup champions, the University of Laval Rouge et Or, who are ranked first and the University of Queen's Golden Gaels, who are ranked second.
Even though the Dinos are ranked first in Canada West, the gap between first and third to begin the university football season is significant. On Saturday, the Dinos lost 32-3 to the Rouge et Or in a pre-season matchup in Quebec City. It was only an exhibition game and teams do not always attempt to be victorious, but the result did show that the Dinos are still behind the Rouge et Or on both sides of the football.
The Dinos begin their 2013 season Saturday at the University of British Columbia at Vancouver's Thunderbird Stadium. Their first home game will be September 14 against the University of Saskatchewan.
