Dinos beat X-Women at CIS women's hockey championship in Toronto Thursday

According to the University of Calgary Dinos website, the University of Calgary Dinos defeated the University of St. Francis Xavier X-Women 4-0 in their first game at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport National Women's Hockey Championship in Toronto on Thursday morning at Varsity Arena.

Offensively Hayley Wickenheiser of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and captain Tanya Morgan of Wembley, Alberta led the way. Morgan had a goal and two assists, while Wickenheiser had a goal and an assist, including the game winning goal. Elana Lovell of Kamloops, British Columbia and Iya Gavrilova of Krasnoyarsk, Russia also had multi-point games with a goal and an assist each.

Amanda Tapp of Calgary, Alberta meanwhile made 17 saves for the shutout.

The Dinos completely dominated the game, outshooting the X-Women 41-17.

In other action, the University of Montreal beat the University of Toronto 1-0 in overtime. The Dinos next play the University of Queen's Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
