According to the Canada West website, the University of Calgary Dinos have advanced to the Canada West Conference semi-finals in women's basketball with a 79-66 win over the University of Thompson Rivers WolfPack at Calgary's Jack Simpson Gymnasium Saturday night.
The Dinos defeated the WolfPack 2-0 in the best out of three series.
Forward Jessica Franz of Surrey, British Columbia led the Dinos with 21 points. Megan Schaufele, Tamara Jarrett and Ashley Hirons were also in double digits in scoring. Schaufele had 16 points, while Jarrett and Hirons had ten points each. Schaufele led the Dinos with eight rebounds.
The Dinos also significantly improved their chances of playing at the Canadian Interuniversity Sport National Basketball Championships in Regina from March 15-17 and will host the Canada West Final Four at Jack Simpson Gymnasium next weekend.
The Dinos will play the University of Alberta Pandas in one semi-final Friday with the University of Regina Cougars playing the University of Fraser Valley Cascades in the other semi-final Friday.
