Dinos advance to 2014 Canada West hockey finals

According to the University of Calgary Dinos website, the University of Calgary Dinos defeated the University of Manitoba Bisons 2-1 in overtime on Sunday to advance to the Canada West Conference final where they will take on the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

Defenseman Alex Dzielski of Rochester, New York scored the game winning goal at 5:41 of the extra period from Ryan Harrison.

Harrison, a centre from Kelowna, British Columbia, who played five seasons with the Prince Albert Raiders, Medicine Hat Tigers and Everett Silvertips, opened the scoring at 5:27 of the first period on the power play from Walter Wintoneak and Davis Vandane before the Bisons tied the scoring with 4:45 left in regulation.

Dinos' goaltender Jacob DeSerres got 24 saves in net for Calgary.

The Dinos won the best out of three Canada West Conference semi-final series 2-1 and will now face a tough Golden Bears team ranked first in Canada next weekend. The University of Alberta Golden Bears beat the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds two games to none in the other Canada West Conference semi-final.
