Dining deal of the day: up to 50% off Cuban food

I love birthdays, especially when the anniversaries are restaurants’. The gifts are always to us, the customers, in the form of reduced prices.

One such event is scheduled for tomorrow, February 6, when the East Village Cuban outpost Cafecito turns 9. To mark the occasion, the already modestly priced main courses (they run only into the high teens), will be $9, and sandwiches—including the Cubano—will be marked down to $5 (usually $9). To add to the festivities, a live band will be performing beginning at 7 p.m.

The only down side is that is that food discounts are in force only at lunchtime through 6 p.m., though drinks will be priced at $5 throughout the night. Cash only. Cafecito, 185 Avenue C, bet 11th and 12th Sts, 212-253-9966.
